Concrete Is Where the Pressure Belongs
Driveway and concrete cleaning is the one place a pressure washer earns its name. Concrete can handle the force that would damage stucco or a roof, and in Laredo it takes a beating: tire marks, oil drips, rust from sprinklers and patio furniture, caliche dust ground into the surface, and dark staining where cars park every day. A good concrete cleaning removes that evenly, without the zebra stripes a handheld wand leaves.
Why a surface cleaner instead of a wand
A rotary surface cleaner is a round hood with spinning nozzles that rides on the concrete. It keeps the nozzles at a fixed height, so the whole slab gets the same cleaning, and it contains much of the spray. A wand held at different distances cleans unevenly and can etch the surface if the tip gets too close. We use the wand for edges, steps and corners, and the surface cleaner for the rest.
Stains need their own treatment
- Oil and grease: a degreaser applied first and given time to work; old stains often lighten rather than vanish
- Rust: a rust remover suited to concrete, common where sprinklers with iron-rich water hit the slab
- Tire marks: treated and scrubbed before the main wash
- Organic stains and mildew: treated in shaded spots and along the edges of lawns
We tell you at the estimate which stains should come out and which will only fade.
Laredo water rules come first
This is the service most affected by water restrictions. Laredo's 2024 Stage 3 rules listed washing sidewalks, driveways, parking areas and other paved areas as water waste, with an exception only for fire hazards. When we checked in October 2026, the Laredo Utilities conservation page listed Stage 2, with no start date given. Before we schedule a driveway, we check what the current stage allows. If paved-surface washing is not allowed, we tell you and wait rather than put you at risk of a violation. Confirm the current stage with Laredo Utilities.
Keeping runoff off the street
A driveway usually drains straight to the curb, and the curb drains to the storm system and on to the Rio Grande. Concrete wash water carries dirt, oil and cleaning solution. We sweep or blow the slab first so less water is needed, set berms or covers at the bottom of the drive, and direct water to the yard or collect it where needed.
Sealing after cleaning
Clean, dry concrete can be sealed to slow future staining. Sealing is a separate step with its own price, and it needs the slab fully dry. We can explain the options at the estimate; it is never added without your approval.

How It Works
1. Check the rules and the slab
We confirm the current water stage and look at stains, cracks and drainage.
2. Dry clean and pre-treat
The slab is swept or blown, and oil, rust and tire marks are treated.
3. Surface clean
A rotary surface cleaner covers the field; edges and steps are done by wand.
4. Rinse and recover
Runoff is kept off the street, and we walk the finished slab with you.

Driveway & Concrete Cleaning Questions
How much does driveway pressure washing cost?
Angi lists most driveway jobs at $100 to $250, or $0.20 to $0.40 per square foot. HomeGuide gives a $100 to $200 flat rate for a typical driveway, with heavy stains that need hand scrubbing at $0.40 to $1.25 per square foot. We quote after seeing the slab.
Can I get my driveway washed during Laredo's water restrictions?
It depends on the stage. Laredo's Stage 3 rules prohibited washing driveways and other paved areas except for fire hazards. We check the current Laredo Utilities stage before scheduling and wait if paved-surface washing is not allowed.
Will pressure washing remove oil stains?
Fresh oil usually comes out with a degreaser and enough dwell time. Old stains that have soaked deep into the concrete often lighten but leave a shadow. We tell you which to expect at the estimate.
Can pressure washing damage concrete?
It can if a narrow tip is held too close, which etches the surface and leaves lines. A rotary surface cleaner keeps the nozzles at a fixed height for even cleaning, and we use the wand carefully on edges and steps.
